BJP criticises Mamata for sops for Muslims

The BJP slammed West Bengal CM for sops for Muslims ahead of next year`s panchayat polls.

Kolkata: The BJP on Thursday slammed West
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for sops for Muslims
ahead of next year`s panchayat polls, and said the state
government had no right to distribute public money `to gather
Muslim votes`.

"If this cash-strapped government has so much money,
why is it not providing it to the poor and even poor Muslims?"
BJP`s state President Rahul Sinha told reporters here.

The BJP leader described the chief minister`s
announcement of sops to imams as `communal` and urged
her to refrain from it.

The BJP leader threatened to move the Calcutta High
Court when the state government issued an order to this

Alleging that the state government was acting
whimsically, he said BJP would hold protests on the issue
on April nine and ten and take out a procession on April 11.
