Guwahati: BJP leaders participating in a
rally on Sunday focussed on "rampant corruption by the UPA
government" while giving a call to the people of poll-bound
Assam to root out the Congress from power.
Senior BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya
Sabha Arun Jaitley said after the "massive corruption charges
including the 2 G spectrum and CWG, the Congress has no place
to hide their face."
The rally was held on the last day of the BJP National
Executive meeting in the city.
Jaitley said in Jammu and Kashmir too, Congress has "no
solution" as also in other states where insurgency is on the
rise. He said the BJP was dedicated to rooting out corruption
and providing good governance.
Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj
questioned the UPA government`s charge that the BJP was not
allowing Parliament to function and stalling proceedings.
"It is better not to allow proceedings than allowing the
session to continue because time and again our demand for a
JPC probe into corruption has been rejected," she said.
Criticising the government on "unprecedented price rise",
the senior BJP leader said the rise of prices of onion has hit
the common man hard.
The NDA, she said, is going ahead with a massive "Jan
Jagaran" (public awakening) campaign during which the people
would be educated about the "misdeeds" of the UPA regime and
the need to root out corruption.
JD(U) president Sharad Yadav lamented that the UPA
government is "not allowing a JPC probe into several scandals
because of the fear that the truth will be exposed."
Yadav took a dig at Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal for his
criticism of the CAG and said this has proved that the country
was in the grip of "corrupt leaders".
