Kolkata: CPI-M state secretary Biman Bose on Sunday released a book written by party leader Rabin Deb that dwells on alleged lies told by 'reactionary forces' to tarnish communists since the time they came into being.

Deb, a member of the CPI-M state committee, in the 50-page book titled 'Sei Mithyachar ajo cholchey' (The lie is still continuing), said, ''A smear campaign since the advent of the theory of scientific socialism has been on against it.''

The first copy of the book was presented to West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today at the party headquarter here.

Stating that from the rulers to the media - all have worked against the theory of scientific socialism, the book claimed that since Marx and Engels propounded their Communist Manifesto in 1848, "A campaign against it had begun, continued in different countries and was still on."

Alleging that the same villification campaign was being carried out against the Marxists in West Bengal now, Deb narrated several incidents including the infamous Saibari massacre of two Congressmen in 1970 by alleged CPI(M) workers claiming that the real incident had been pushed under the carpet.

The book also refers to the massacre of nine innocent villagers on January seven this year at Netai in Lalgarh where local CPI(M) leaders and workers have been accused and a CBI probe was ordered by the Calcutta High Court.

It described the election manifesto of the Trinamool Congress as a 'pack of lies' and also referred to the promises by Railway Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee as being largely unfulfilled.
