Burdwan blast: 'NIA probe should not hurt any particular community'

Kolkata: The Bengal Imams' Association on Saturday said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) should conduct an 'impartial' probe into the Burdwan blasts which must not hurt any particular community.
"We want the NIA to conduct an impartial investigation so that the real culprits are punished and not the innocent ones," the Association's Chairman Mohammed Yahiya told a press conference here.
"The NIA is a national agency and it should conduct an investigation in a neutral manner not influenced by any particular race or community," he said.
"We have nothing to say the way the NIA is investigating into the Burdwan blasts but we would like to stress that the probe must not hurt any particular community," he said.
Alleging that several Border Security Force (BSF) officials and government officials were involved in smuggling militants across the border and helping them setting base on Indian soil, Yahiya urged that the NIA must arrest those officials while probing the matter.
He also alleged that the media has been 'concealing' facts while reporting the NIA probe.
"We are surprised that the media is also concealing facts. Everyday what we are reading is a fabricated story scripted by the media houses which has no connection with the truth... We demand that the media should come out with the truth and name the culprits in their inside reports of the NIA probe," he said.
Yahiya said that the NIA probe into the links with suspected al Qaeda and Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists with the Simulia Madrasa in the district was actually a "hidden ploy" to destroy the Madrasa system here.
"Reports that Madrasas are training militants will spoil the reputation. We see it as a hidden agenda to destroy the Madrasa system... It's done so that parents don't send their children there," he alleged.
"People have little knowledge about Madrasas. They think Madrasas are centres where militants are trained but the truth is that in Madrasas poor children are taught and given food. But if we find any Madrasa has terror link we will destroy it," Yahiya added.
