CBI does not look into money trail of Saradha: Sinha

Defending Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh's statement in Parliament on Wednesday over the Saradha chit fund scam, BJP state president Rahul Sinha today said the jurisdiction of the CBI does not permit it to look into the money trail of the Saradha scam.

Kolkata: Defending Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh's statement in Parliament on Wednesday over the Saradha chit fund scam, BJP state president Rahul Sinha today said the jurisdiction of the CBI does not permit it to look into the money trail of the Saradha scam.

"The jurisdiction of CBI is to identify and arrest the culprits and beneficiaries of Saradha scam. It is not looking into the money trail of the Saradha scam. The SFIO and ED are looking into the money trail of Saradha to foreign countries. Let them submit the report. There is no contradiction as being projected by the media," Sinha said.

Addressing a rally in Kolkata on Sunday, BJP president Amit Shah had alleged that Saradha chit fund money had been used in the October 2 Burdwan blast which was being probed for link with Jamaatul-Mujahideen Bangladesh terror outfit.

When asked on what basis Shah has made such a comment, Sinha said, "It is not about us. Most of the newspapers of Bangladesh are full with stories about connection of Burdwan blast and Saradha money."
