Centre criticises WB for failing to develop tourism projects

The Centre on Saturday accused West Bengal Government of failure in developing infrastructure projects for tourism sector in the state despite getting financial assistance.

Bengal Government of failure in developing infrastructure
projects for tourism sector in the state despite getting
financial assistance.

"The West Bengal government has pathetically failed to
develop tourism infrastructure in the state though financial
aid was given," Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed
said.

Speaking at an interactive session at Bengal National
Chamber of Commerce here, Ahmed said that the Centre had given
several crores for developing projects at Santiniketan,
Dooars, Ayodhya Hills, Darjeeling among others.

"The state has done almost nothing. How have they
spent the money?" he asked.

Ahmed said that the tourism ministry had also urged
all the states to create a land bank for tourism projects.
