Kolkata: Barely 48 hours after the CID
announced awards for infromation on the whereabouts of the
accused in the Netai carnage, the investigating agency made a
breakthrough today by arresting two persons from West
Midnapore district.
CID ADG Raj Kanojia said Ashwini Chalak and Abani Singh
had been arrested from West Midnapore district this morning
for having complicity in the killing of nine people on January
7 at Netai village near lalgarh.
Ashwini and Abani, the former a CPI-M member of the
Lalgarh local committee and another an ordinary member of the
party, along with four others were the main accused in the
killings.
The four others accused in the case are CPI-M's Lalgarh
Local committee secretary Joydeb Giri, Zonal Committee member
Fullora Mondal, owner of the house Rathin Dandapat and Tapan
Dey.
On Saturday the CID had announced Rs 50,000 cash award to
anybody providing information on the six accused.
