New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Friday gave a miss to the party`s
Central Committee meeting which would discuss the strategy to be adopted in coming assembly polls in 5 states.
Party sources cited the law and order situation in the
state as the reason for Bhattacharjee`s inability to attend
the meeting which is also expected to deliberate on the issue
of candidature of top party leaders in the polls in the
states which include CPI (M)-ruled Kerala and West Bengal.

Bhattacharjee had skipped several Polit Bureau meetings
of the party ever since the Left suffered a huge blow at the
hands of Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee`s Trinamool Congress
in the state in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, senior party leaders from the
state--Industries Minister Nirupam Sen and party`s state
secretary Biman Bose attended the meeting which would also
discuss the issue of alleged corruption in the UPA
dispensation and price rise.

Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry are the other states
where elections are being held.
