Burdwan: An alleged coal mafia, Rakesh Singh, has been arrested from near a school at Durgapur, the police said on Sunday.

"Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Singh from near a school last night. Eight firearms, 48 rounds of ammunition and 41 packets of ganja were seized from him," Deputy Police Commissioner of Durgapur Subhankar Singha Sarkar said.

Singh was wanted in connection with a number of dacoity in the industrial town, he said.

these people... who r called as mafia are just a simple drop of black ink in the name of mafia. mafia is an honourable & resctpectfull.. place in crime. these people are goons. they dont know how to do business. there r still many people in the history of mafia , they used to business without touching somebody `s collar in there whole life. i request my media friends please not to call these people but can be called as goons.
