Cong leader killed, killer lynched in Bengal

A local Congress leader was killed by a CPI(M) cadre who was caught and lynched by locals at Parulia village.

Baharampur (WB): A local Congress leader was on Tuesday killed by a CPI(M) cadre who was caught and lynched by locals at Parulia village falling under Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee`s Jangipur Lok Sabha constituency in Murshidabad district, police said.

Sirajdaullah (51), gram panchayat pradhan of Parulia, was attacked with bombs by CPI(M) member Basar Sheikh when he was giving money to people under Old Age Pension scheme at his panchayat office. Sirajdaullah died on the spot,Superintendent of police, Bharat Lal Meena said.
The enraged locals chased Sheikh (38), accused of killing Sirajdaullah`s brother Asajuddin about three months ago in the same village, when he was trying to escape the scene. Sheikh, absconding since the killing of Asajuddin, was caught and lynched by the locals near the panchayat office.
Meena said additional SP was camping in the village in view of mounting tension there.
