Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee on Thursday accused the CPI(M) of infiltrating its own men
into the administration during its over three-decade rule in
the state, saying they were not cooperating with the
government.
"In last 35 years, the CPI(M) had infiltrated its own men
in the administration. There is a total non-cooperation," the
Trinamool Congress chief said at an election rally to canvass
for herself for the September 25 by-election in Bhowanipore
assembly constituency.
"There is a dearth of useful officers in the
administration. We are faced with funds crunch as well," she
said.
Listing the achievements of her government in the past
few months, she said, "We have solved the Darjeeling problem."
"We are trying to solve the 'junglemahal' issue," she
said in an apparent reference to the Maoist problem in the
three forested districts of south Bengal.
"We have generated employment opportunities for 2.31
lakh youths in the state," Banerjee claimed.
Promising a 'second Bengal renaissance', Banerjee said,
"Despite the hurdles we are faced with, we will restore the
past glory of Bengal.
"The renaissance will come, but it takes some time. I
seek your blessings," she said.
"I am sorry to trouble you again within five months of
the assembly polls by seeking votes but I am helpless. This is
the system (in our democracy)," Banerjee, who is currently an
MP from Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat and has to get elected as
MLA within six months, said.
