CPI(M) meet to finalise ideological document

A four-day session of the CPI(M) central committee began to finalise its draft political resolution.

Kolkata: A four-day session of the CPI(M)
central committee began here on Tuesday to finalise its draft
political resolution and ideological document ahead of the
20th party Congress to be held at Kozhikode in April.

"Details of the ensuing party Congress will form the main
part of the agenda in the central committee meeting," CPI(M)
general secretary Prakash Karat said.

After finalisation, the resolution and the ideological
document will be made public for discussion at all levels of
the party before adoption, party sources said, adding that
they will be put on party`s website to take people`s opinion.

Quoting politburo member Sitaram Yechury, the sources
said these will be "public documents" and the purpose will be
to inform people about the party`s strategy and stand in the
given political situation.

"There is no question of diluting the CPI(M)`s political
stand so far as the economic policy of the Congress and the
communal agenda of the BJP are concerned," they said quoting
Yechury.

The meeting is also likely to take up for discussion the
party`s strategy for the ensuing Assembly elections in five
states.

Aimed at finalising the party`s political strategy before
the next Lok Sabha polls in 2014, the April 4-9 party Congress
in Kozhikode in Kerala will be the last such Congress to be
held before the general elections.
