Darjeeling: A solution to the Darjeeling
issue is possible next month during the tripartite talks, the date for which is yet to be fixed, West Bengal Home Secretary
GD Gautama has said.
"The date for the next tripartite talks can be announced
any time by the Centre, possibly within this month, and a
solution is possible," Gautama, who is on a visit here, said
on the sidelines of inauguration of the Gold Cup football tournament yesterday.
The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has demanded that the
interim set-up proposed by the Centre be implemented in the
next political-level talks within the second week of December.
The GJM has started a month-long agitation in the hills
and plains to demand early talks and inclusion of the Terai
and Dooars in the plains in the interim set-up.
