Kolkata: The situation in Darjeeling could go
out of control any time as what was going on there is fast
turning out to be a `Jana Andolan` (mass movement), two GJM
leaders said here on Wednesday.
"The party may find it difficult to control the situation
if the reins of the GJM-led agitation is taken over by the
masses," Kishore Bhan and Arjun Biswakarma, the spokesperson
and convener respectively of the Kolkata branch of the GJM,
told reporters.

They alleged that the trouble occurred because the police
had attacked a peaceful demonstration in Dooars in Jalaiguri
district in West Bengal yesterday.
Bhan and Biswakarma said GJM could still sit in for talks
with the state government and the Centre, but the discussion
must focus on creation of a separate state.

"It is now a question of sentiments of the people and we
cannot accept the interim council any longer," they said at
the joint press conference.
