Malda: Demanding stoppage of two express trains at Kumarganj railway station, local people Monday squatted on the railway tracks blocking train movement in NF Railway's Malda district for around seven hours, railway officers said.
The local people squatted on the railway tracks at Kumarganj railway station from 4 am in the morning blocking train movement till around 11 am, the sources said.
They demanded that the Hatebazar Express and Teesta Express should have stoppage at Kumarganj railway station.
Senior railway officers have rushed to the spot and are holding talks with the demonstrators. The railway officers persuaded the demonstrators to lift the blockade and said their demand would be looked into.
Due to the demonstration many trains to North Bengal are held up in different station, the sources added.
