EC issues notification for the second phase of WB polls

The Election Commission issued notification for the second phase of West Bengal Assembly Election on April 23 to be conducted in 50 of the 294 Assembly constituencies.

Kolkata: The Election Commission on Wednesday
issued notification for the second phase of West Bengal
Assembly Election on April 23 to be conducted in 50 of the 294
Assembly constituencies.

"The notification has been issued by the Commission
for 50 assembly constituencies in the districts of
Murshidabad, Malda and Birbhum," Additional Chief Electoral
Officer, N K Sahana told reporters here today.

For the second phase the last date for the filing of
nomination is April 6 and the last date of withdrawal on April
9. The nominations will be scrutinised on April 7.

When asked about deployment of forces for the second
phase of elections, Sahana said "The specific number of
deployment of force will be kept a secret, but there will be
more than adequate deployment so that people can exercise
their franchise freely and safely."
