New Delhi: The Election Commission on Sunday said it has asked for CD and other material to go into the
charge that veteran West Bengal CPI(M) leader Anil Basu had
used abusive language against Trinamool Congress chief Mamata
Banerjee.

"We have asked the complainant to produce evidence of CD
and other material. We will place them before the Commission
which will take an appropriate decision based on facts,"
Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi told reporters here.
Asked what action the EC proposes to take against Basu,
he said the Commission was not aware of the details.

"Whenever a complaint comes from any of the party, we
insist on the complainant that they produce evidence," he
said.

The Trinamool Congress demanded stern action by the
Commission against Basu, a former MP.
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee
censured veteran CPI(M) leader for allegedly using abusive
language against Banerjee at an election meeting and asked him
to be cautious in future.

Replying to a question on Left Front`s complaint about
use of black money in the elections, Zutshi said the
Commission has asked the party to produce evidence.
