Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has served a notice to sitting Singur MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharya and the contesting candidate from the same constituency for giving interview to a private television channel on Tuesday.

"Singur MLA and the contesting TMC candidate Bhattacharya gave an interview to a private television channel today but as it is a no-campaign day so it has violated the model code of conduct," CEO Sunil Gupta told reporters.

"A show-cause notice has been served to Bhattacharya asking him to explain why action will not be taken against him under RP Act," Gupta said.

Previously two other leaders, CPI(M)'s Goutam Deb and Congress' Paresh Pal was served similar notice for giving interviews during no-campaign time.
