Election Commission notice to Singur MLA

West Bengal CEO has served a notice to sitting Singur MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharya and the contesting candidate from the same constituency for giving interview to a private television channel on Tuesday.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has served a notice to sitting Singur MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharya and the contesting candidate from
the same constituency for giving interview to a private
television channel on Tuesday.

"Singur MLA and the contesting TMC candidate
Bhattacharya gave an interview to a private television channel
today but as it is a no-campaign day so it has violated the
model code of conduct," CEO Sunil Gupta told reporters.

"A show-cause notice has been served to Bhattacharya
asking him to explain why action will not be taken against him
under RP Act," Gupta said.

Previously two other leaders, CPI(M)`s Goutam Deb and
Congress` Paresh Pal was served similar notice for giving
interviews during no-campaign time.
