Howrah: Opposition parties will on Wednesday observe a bandh in Howrah city and the district to protest the killing of a youth by drunken men for protesting against eve-teasing.
The Left Front had on Tuesday called 12-hour Howrah district bandh in protest against the killing of Arup Bhandari.
Bhandari (20), a college student, was killed on Monday by some drunken youths at Howrah city for protesting their lewd comments against two girls.
Another opposition party, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) called 12-hour bandh in Howrah city to protest the killing and immediate arrest of the culprits.
Congress has also called bandh today in Howrah demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
Pradesh Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Bhandari's house on Monday night and gave the bandh call.
Bhandari, who was admitted at the medical facility on January 29 with multiple critical injuries, died at around 6.30 am on Monday.
