Kolkata: After he criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her "corruption in judiciary" remarks, retired Calcutta High Court judge and former Lokayukta Samaresh Banerjee has complained about receiving anonymous threat calls, police said Friday.

Bidhannagar police commissioner Rajeev Kumar told IANS that Banerjee had filed two complaints Thursday night stating that he received two anonymous threat calls.

"Our investigation showed that the first call was made from a mobile procured in the name of woman but being used by some other person. We are trying to locate him."

"I have no doubt that the calls were made after my remarks directed at (chief minister) Banerjee," the retired judge said.

Banerjee said he received the anonymous calls late Wednesday and Thursday evening. One of the callers claimed he was a journalist with an English daily and threatened him for his comments.

The calls were made hours after he participated in a panel discussion on a television channel and made critical remarks against the chief minister for her comments that she made at the state assembly Tuesday.

Following the threats, the former Lokayukta filed a written complaint with the Bidhannagar Police station and also made available to the police the telephone number from which the calls were made.

He demanded arrests of the culprits and also expressed concern over the whole issue.

Banerjee, who retired as the state's first Lokayukta in February 2009, said that if people lose faith in the judiciary, there will be no democracy.

Mamata said or not it is not important, but it is the fact that in our country India still there is no any system to take feedback or Report from the parties related to Court cases. There is Bar Association available to listen the problems of advocates and Judges Association available to listen problems of Judges, but there is no any proper system to listen to the problems of people whose cases are going on in courts.

Mamta Banerji thinks like emporors of our Mugal era. She is living and behaving in our dark era of Indian History. Unless she change her style of functioning as CM in a responsible way, she would be thrown from the chair in the near future.

MAMATA BANNERJEE HAS MADE A CORRECT STATEMENT REGARDING JUDGES. SOME OF THE JUDGES ARE CORRUPT AND HAVE SIDED THE RICH & POLITICIANS WHILE GIVING JUDGEMENTS. CORRUPTION IN LOWER JUDICIARY IS VERY HIGH AND COMMON GOOD CITIZENS WHO ARE POOR DO GET AFFECTED. MAGISTRATES KEEP ADJOURNING THE CASES SO THAT POOR PERSONS CAN ANY MORE AFFORD TO PAY HIS LAWYERS FOR ATTENDING THE HEARING DAYS AND THIS IS THE FIRST START OF CORRUPTION. MAGISTRATES ALSO RECEIVES BENEFITS FROM RICH PEOPLE TO DECIDE THE CASE. IT HAS COME OUT IN ANDHRA A JUDGE HAS TAKEN Rs 5 Cr. CAN ANY JUDGE REFUTE THIS. JUDGES USE CONTEMPT OF COURT AS THEIR ARM TO PUNISH GOOD PEOPLE. I AGREE 90% OF JUDGES ARE GOOD AND THEY ARE THE PILLARS OF JUSTICE SYSYTEM. JUDICIARY APPOINTMENTS SHOULD BE OUT OF POLITICAL BOSSES AND JUDICIAL COMMISSION COMPRISING VERY SENIOR RETIRED JUDGES SHOULD BE MADE AS APPOINTING AUTHORITY VESTED WITH AUTHORITY BT PREZ OF INDIA. THEY SHOLD NOT REPORT TO ANY POLITICIAN.
