leaders Kishenji and Telgu Dipak was among five Naxalites
arrested from the outskirts of the metropolis on Tuesday.
"Madhusudhan Mondal alias Narayan, Sachin Ghosal and
Rajesh Mondal were arrested from Amtala and Siddhartha Mondal
and Sanjay Mondal from Garia in adjoining South 24-Parganas
district," IGP-1 Neeraj Nayan told agency.
Madhusudhan was arrested from Amtala bus stand when
Rajesh came to hand over a letter to him, the officer said,
adding Sachin was arrested along with Madhusudhan.
Asked about the letter, Nayan said, "I cannot divulge
Madhusudan, who used the aliases of Narayan, Selim and
Robi, was the zonal committee secretary of the Maoists during
the Nandigram movement.
"Madhusudhan who is a state committee member of the
Maoists took a lead role in the movement in Nandigram. The
others arrested also actively participated in it," he said.
According to CID sources, Madhusudhan was close to
Kishenji and Telegu Dipak. He had arranged the stay of
Kishenji when he went to Nandigram.
