Kolkata: A former Calcutta High Court judge Samaresh Banerjee and his wife were allegedly threatened and abused over phone on two consecutive days at their Bidhannagar residence by anonymous callers posing as journalists, police said on Friday.
Assistant commissioner of police, Bidhannagar commissionerate, Prabir Roy said an FIR was lodged with South Bidhannagar police station on August 16 alleging that the former judge received a highly abusive, insulting and threatening call over cellphone by a person with a male voice on August 15.
Roy said that wife of the fomer judge also received another all from a person with a female voice the next day which issued a threatening to her.
The calls were made from two different mobile phone numbers, he said.
Acting on the FIR, the police traced the owner of the mobile phones and have launched a search to locate the offenders.
