Kalyani: Former Trinamool Congress MP Sucharu Ranjan Haldar on Sunday joined the BJP along with his supporters at a programme here in Nadia district today.

Haldar, who was an MP from Ranaghat between 2009 and 2014, was denied a TMC ticket in 2014.

Describing the TMC as a party of "extortionists" and "liars", Haldar took a jibe at party supremo Mamata Banerjee calling her as someone "speaking a lot but doing precious little."

"Now I have joined a party of gentlemen," he said.

BJP West Bengal President Rahul Sinha said in Kolkata that Haldar was inducted into the BJP.
