Gyan Singh Sohanpal takes oath as Protem Speaker

Kolkata: Veteran Congress leader Gyan
Singh Sohanpal was on Wednesday sworn in as Protem Speaker of the
newly-constituted 15th West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

State Governor MK Narayanan administered oath to
Singh at Raj Bhavan at 11.00 am.

Singh has been representing Kharagpur Sadar
constituency for the ninth time.

The senior-most Congress leader will conduct
swearing-in of the newly-elected legislators in the House from
Monday.

Singh said that he would conduct the Speaker`s
election when the new House would be called to meet.

``I was pro tem Speaker in 2001, 2006 and this year
too``, Singh said.
