Kolkata: Confident of a change in
governance in West Bengal after the Assembly polls, Trinamool
Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday made a plea to Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh to help the state "which is
politically, economically and socially bankrupt".

"Prime minister has to help us as the state is
politically, economically, socially bankrupt by the courtesy
of the CPI(M)-led Left Front in last 34 years," Banerjee told
a joint election rally at Dum Sum.
She, however, said that there were saner elements in
Left parties. "Many in the Left parties support us and we will
look forward to their assistance."
Union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, WBPCC
President Manas Bhuinya and AICC General Secretary Shakeel
Ahmed were present at the meeting.
