Kolkata: Two people have been arrested for allegedly gang raping a housewife in West Bengal's North 24-Parganas district, police said Sunday.
The incident happened Saturday evening in Deganga in the district, some 40 km from here.
According to the police, the woman, who was living separately following a broken marriage, was raped by three people acquainted with her husband.
Additional Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Mukherjee said: "We have arrested two people for gang raping the 21-year-old woman. She used to live alone after separating from her husband. We are searching for the third man as well and looking if the husband is also involved as all the accused are known to him."
Mukherjee said medical examinations have been conducted on the woman to ascertain rape. The reports are awaited.
