IAF officer killed in road accident

Barasat, WB: An IAF officer was killed after being run over by a truck on Jessore Road near Kolkata airport, police said Monday.

Wing Commander K Surajprakash (48) was hit by a speeding car and run over by a truck coming behind it yesterday when he was crossing the road at Bankra More near airport, they said.

A resident of Hyderabad and posted in Chandigarh airbase, Surajprakash had come out for a stroll from IAF hostel where he was putting up with his wife, son and daughter.
He was on scheduled to leave for Tezpur on Sunday evening, the police said.

Locals rushed Surajprakash to Dum Dum Municipal Hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.
Both vehicles have been seized and a search is on for the drivers, the police said.
