Asansol: A 65-year old retired doctor was arrested for allegedly having contacts with left wing extremists and treating Kishanji, the top Maoist leader who was killed by joint forces, police said on Thursday.
Samir Biswas, a retired doctor of Eastern Coalfileds Limited, was arrested last night from a relative`s residence at Mahishila colony of the town.
Biswas had been absconding since August 2010 following charges against him of providing medical treatment to Kishanji and other Maoists in their hideouts in the forests and keeping contact with them.
Police had then raided his residence at the ECL housing colony Pachghoria and seized documents.
Kishanji was killed in an operation by joint forces in the thick jungles of Burisole in West Midnapore district in November 2011.
