Siliguri: A landslide hit road link to
Darjeeling following which toy train services between New
Jalpaiguri and Kurseong districts were also suspended,
officials said.

Vehicles stopped plying on the National Highway 55, a
major road link to Darjeeling, when due to landslide a truck
carrying LPG cylinders slided 300 feet down the road near
Tingharia, making the road link inaccessible.

The driver and the helper of the truck, however, managed
to save their lives by jumping off the sliding vehicle, the
officials said.

They said a portion of the narrow gauge toy train was
hanging there as the slippers and soil under it slided down.

Chief public relations officer NF railway, S Hajang said
up and down toy trains between New Jalpaiguri and Kurseong
have been suspended.

However, the toy-train service between Kurseong and
Darjeeling would continue as per schedule, he said.
