Dankuni (WB): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday raked up the issue of central assistance for her government, saying in the last one year not a single paise had been received by the state.
``Till today since last one year, we did not get a paise (from Centre) forcing us to work under severe financial constraints,`` Mamata said during inauguration of a diesel locomotive component factory.
"My government`s annual income is Rs 21,000 crore, while Rs 22,000 crore is being spent on paying loan interests,`` she said.
Despite financial constraints, she said work on development projects, was continuing.
``The state government has distributed seven lakh kisan credit cards and crop insurance covers to farmers from its own coffers``, she said.
The chief minister said that her government had embarked on expeditious implementation of projects the government had announced.
``We are committed to people`s welfare and a day will come when Bengal will glitter," she said.
Banerjee briefly touched the Singur land issue, saying she has prepared a "Kisan vision" concept for the farmers.
