Kolkata: The Left Front government in West Bengal was helping the CPI(M) to recapture areas in Maoist-hit West Midnapore district, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee alleged Friday while reiterating her claim that armed Marxist cadre were setting up camps in the area.
"There are 93 camps. CPI(M) cadre are donning police
uniform and entering the areas with the joint forces. The
situation in the area has come to such a pass that it seems
that an Indo-Pak war is on," Banerjee told newspersons at an
iftar party hosted by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Demanding the intervention of Union Home Minister P
Chidamabaram, who has recently said that camps of armed cadre
existed in the district, Banerjee said, "cadre raj in the name
of joint operation should be brought to an end."
Alleging that the state government was supplying arms
from its armoury to Marxist cadre, she said, "I have reported
the matter to the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Union Finance Minister recently."
Stating that the camps should be immediately dismantled,
Banerjee alleged, "the CPI(M) is running a parallel army in

She said that the entire area was closed to journalists,
opposition political parties and social organisations, she
said, "my question is when the joint operations are on, how
are the CPI(M) being allowed to set up armed camps. I don`t
know what kind of joint operations are going on."
She also condemned the attack on journalists at Pirakata
in the district during the day.
