Literary festival in Kolkata

Kolkata, the city known across the globe for its book fair, will now have an annual literary festival starting this year.

globe for its book fair, will now have an annual literary
festival starting this year.

The inaugural edition of `Apeejay Kolkata Literary
Festival` would be a three-day event beginning January 15 and
focus on children and the city`s rich cultural heritage,
organisers Oxford Bookstore said today.

About 40 authors from India and the overseas would
participate in the fest that would feature diverse range of
programmes ranging from art, music, films and books.

The festival will be held at heritage places like St.
John`s Anglican Church and Victoria Memorial.

"It is a bold initiative as Kolkata always claimed to
have a good taste for literature. The city has produced
numerous well-known writers," festival director Maina Bhagat
told reporters.
