Kolkata: A day after a Trinamool Congress lawmaker from Burdwan in West Bengal was caught in a video claiming that leaders of his party are extorting money from businessmen, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said that the `mafia raj` existed in TMC.

Extortion from businessmen and terrorism are taking place under TMC, added BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

In the video, Chatterjee is seen addressing an internal party meeting of around 200 people at Manteshwar. During the meeting, he said: "Some of our TMC leaders are engaged in extorting money from different businessman of our area, they are sending envelopes with a note stating the amount that should be sent to them by businessman."

The BJP had last month alleged that West Bengal has become a "land of jehadis" under the Mamata Banerjee government.

“The rule of law in Bengal has been converted into law of vote bank by the TMC, and WB has become under Mamata Banerjee the land of Jehadis,” Bharatiya Janata Party secretary Siddharth Nath Singh had said in a statement.
