Mamata alleges CPI(M) resorting to `political terror`

Renewing her demand for immediate withdrawal of the joint forces from Jangalmahal, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee charged the CPI(M)-led Left Front government in West Bengal with unleashing `political terror`.

Kolkata: Renewing her demand for immediate
withdrawal of the joint forces from Jangalmahal, Trinamool
Congress chief Mamata Banerjee charged the CPI(M)-led
Left Front government in West Bengal with unleashing
`political terror` in the name of curbing Maoist violence.

"The Front government has indulged in political terror
by misusing the joint forces in the name of tackling the
Maoists," Banerjee told reporters here.

Alleging that the state government had been flouting the
Constitution by `misusing` the joint forces to achieve its
objective of `removing political opponents` in Jangalmahal,
Banerjee said her party would shortly take out a procession in
the city demanding withdrawal of the combined forces.

"For over a year, the government has imposed prohibitory
orders to gag democracy and political activities in
Jangalmahal only to pave the way for setting up CPI(M)`s armed
camps the existence of which is known to everyone," she said.

Banerjee alleged that apart from occupying villages in
West Midnapore district, the ruling party had also unleashed
violence at Lalgarh in the same district and at Sasan in North
24-Parganas district during the Durga Puja.
