Mamata Banerjee remembers Tenzing Norgay on his birthday

West Bengal Chief Minister on Friday remembered Tenzing Norgay, one of the first two persons to set foot on the summit of Mount Everest, on his birthday.

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister on Friday remembered Tenzing Norgay, one of the first two persons to set foot on the summit of Mount Everest, on his birthday.

The West Bengal Chief Minister took to Twitter to share her thoughts.

"Today is the birthday of Tenzing Norgay. He also reached the summit of Mt Everest on this day in 1953. We salute his memory," she tweeted.

Tenzing accomplished his stunning feat with Sir Edmund Hillary on May 29,1953 and decided to celebrate his birthday on the same day.
