Mamata Banerjee 'biggest beneficiary' in Saradha scam: Kunal Ghosh

Kolkata: Accusing the Centre of misusing the powers of CBI, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that her party is intentionally being dragged in Saradha scam.

Under attack from all quarters for TMC's alleged involvement in the infamous Saradha scam, Banerjee said that her party is being blamed for the fault of one or two outsiders.

“CBI is being misused by those in power in Delhi. There is whole conspiracy going against us,” the Chief Minister of West Bengal was quoted as saying by PTI.

Furthermore, defending her party on Burdwan blast accusations, she said, “Bangladeshis are our neighbours and brothers. Terrorists are terrorists and they have no country or religion. Our party has no link with it.”

Mamata had on Saturday accused the BJP of stage-managing the Burdwan blasts. And yesterday, party MP Derek O'Brien said the "stage-managed" blasts were "part of the BJP's devious master plan, concerted strategy used even during PM's poll campaign in (West) Bengal".

Meanwhile, suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh today alleged that Banerjee was the "biggest beneficiary" in the Saradha ponzi scheme scam

"Mamata Banerjee is the biggest beneficiary. She is holding party workers' meetings to save herself," Ghosh charged.

Speaking outside Bankshall Court after being brought from Presidency Correctional Home, he said, "She is a coward. She should be made to sit in front of me and questioned".

Ghosh reiterating his demand for a joint questioning by the CBI in the scam.

Ghosh is an accused in the multi-crore Saradha scam case and was arrested in November 2013 by Bidhannagar Police. Ghosh was taken into custody by CBI in July after it started probing the scam on a Supreme Court order.
