Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee on Tuesday said her government would defer its decision on
revival of the State Legislative Council in wake of the
Opposition parties` objections on the issue.
Banerjee told the State Assembly that the matter would be
taken up after a detailed discussion with the Opposition as
her government had "total respect on their opinion".
Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee
said a report on the Council`s revival had been submitted to
the House.
Leader of the Opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra thanked
Banerjee for her move to defer the revival.
