London: Some ‘titans of cricket’ have praised England’s captain Andy Strauss and coach Andy Flower for their outstanding contribution in taking the team to great heights.
England legends like Andrew Flintoff, Steve Harmison, Marcus Trescothick and Paul Collingwood believe that the team will reign at the top of world cricket for years. “It is just brilliant what the two Andys have done with the England team. But I think Andrew Strauss really has been the man above all others though who has driven this team forward,” the Mirror quoted Harmison, as saying. “He took over in difficult circumstances in the West Indies in 2009 and he has led with courage. I played with Straussy in the first academy intake in Australia. I saw then what a tough b***** he was. If you want a man in the trenches with you, Straussy is your man. With him in charge I can see England staying No.1 for a long time,” he added. Another hero of 2005, Kevin Pietersen still wants to carry on in all forms of England cricket. Pietersen is with Alastair Cook’s squad in India where he’s set to play the first warm-up match of the tour today. “I want to continue playing until the 2015 World Cup and then we’ll reassess,” he said.
