Mamata takes initiative to rescue stranded tourists in HP

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee sought cooperation of the Himachal Pradesh government for the rescue of over 40 tourists from West Bengal, now stuck at Rohtang Pass.

Kolkata: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee
on Friday sought cooperation of the Himachal Pradesh government
for the rescue of over 40 tourists from West Bengal, now stuck
at Rohtang Pass.

The stranded passengers would be brought to Kulu
tomorrow morning and later to Chandigarh, when the weather
improves, Banerjee said here.

From Chandigarh the Railways will make arrangements to
bring them back to Kolkata, the minister said.

Tourists from Bengal, as well as other parts of the
country, were held up after landslide and snowstorm made the
area inaccessible by road.
