Metro should improve its service, says WB government

Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Friday
said Metro Rail in the city has to improve its services as
disruptions were leading to public resentment and law and
order problems.

"The Metro authority has to recover its lapses and
improve services. We are more concerned about law and order
following disorder in Metro services," Chief Secretary Samar
Ghosh told reporters here.

Asked when the state government would hold a meeting
with the Metro Rail authority, Ghosh said senior railway
officials were here to conduct an inquiry into the derailment
of an underground train in a tunnel near Central station on
October 20.

"Let that part be over, after which the meeting
can take place," Ghosh said.

Responding to questions on Metro services being
disrupted again today between Kavi Subhas and Kavi Nazrul
stations due to some technical problem, Ghosh said that its
authority has to tackle the situation.
