Moderate cold wave condition in West, North Bengal

A moderate cold wave condition is prevailing in entire north and some western districts of West Bengal.

Kolkata: A moderate cold wave condition
is prevailing in entire north and some western districts of
West Bengal while Kolkata felt the pinch of cold on Saturday with
mercury sliding to 12.2 degrees celsius, the lowest this
season.

Birbhum, Bankura, some parts of Burdwan and Purulia
are in the grip of a moderate coldwave, Regional
meteorologocal Centre Director GC Debnath said.

Entire North Bengal has been reeling under moderate
coldwave conditions for the last few days with the mercury
steadily sliding and varying between 10.7 degrees celsius and
one degrees celsius in Malda, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri and
Darjeeling districts.

Debnath said fog warning had been issued in Terai, Dooars
region of north Bengal for the next 24 hours when visibility
would be vastly reduced.

The condition would prevail for at least five more days,
he said.

In the city, the minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees
celsius is two degrees below normal.
