One arrested for killing headmaster in WB

Jhargram: The main accused in the killing of a headmaster, who refused Maoist-backed PCPA's demand to join a march called by them in Jhargram subdivision of West Midnapore district, has been arrested.

Kartik Dutta was arrested by the police and joint forces from Salpatra village in the jurisdiction of Jhargram police station yesterday, police sources said today.

Headmaster Rabindranath Mahto of Indraboni Primary School had defied the diktat of the Chhatra Samaj and Nari Ijjat Bacchao Committee, the student and newly-raised women's wing of the People's Committee Against Police Atrocities, to join a procession with his students.

Subsequently on July 23, Mahto was called out of a the classroom by six armed men and was shot dead.
