Kolkata: A woman was electrocuted and seven
persons were injured in two different incidents in the city as
incessant rains disrupted life in the metropolis for the
second day on Sunday.

Police said Zahira Khatun (35) was electrocuted during
heavy rains after coming in contact with an electric wire at
Entally in the central part of the city.

Seven persons were injured when the roof of a house near
Fierce Lane, also in the same part of the city, collapsed
amidst pouring rains this morning. They had gathered there to
perform last rites for a person.

Some low-lying areas in the city`s outskirts like the B T
Road, Khardah and Panihati were waterlogged.

According to the MET office, isolated heavy rainfall would
occur over West Bengal and the neighbouring states of
Jharkhand and Sikkim in the next 48 hours.

Heavy rains had yesterday inundated circular railway
tracks in the city which caused an EMU train to be stranded at
Mullickghat station for close to four hours with passengers
trapped inside compartments.

A small stretch of railway tracks at the Liluah crashed
was partially waterlogged but there was no disruption in train
services, railway sources said.
