Kolkata: One person was killed and four
others were injured in an explosion in a house in a congested
area in the heart of North Kolkata on Saturday.
One person was killed and four others were injured in
an explosion unauthorised cracker factory at Shyambazar in
North Kolkata this afternoon, police said.
According to the police there was a huge explosion in
the house and a part of the building collapsed which killed
one Bijoy Bera.
Four others who were injured were rushed to nearby R G
Kar Medical College and Hospital. The condition of one person
is stated to be serious.
Police Commissioner R K Pachnanda and Deputy
Commissioner (North) rushed to the spot.
"We are investigating to find out how a cracker
factory existed in such a prominent place" an investigating
officer said.
