Pay honorarium to priests: VHP to Mamata

Kolkata: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) Friday said it would launch a campaign in West Bengal demanding monthly honorariums to Hindu priests and unemployed youth to protest against the Mamata Banerjee-led government's decision to pay honorariums of Rs 2,500 to imams.

As part of the campaign named 'Amakeo Rs.2500 Dao' ('Give Me Rs.2,500 Too'), signatures of unemployed youth and priests would be taken, said VHP international general secretary Pravin Togadia.

"It is time Mamata Banerjee stopped playing the politics of community appeasement. If the imams can get money, what wrong have the priests done? They should also be paid," he said.

Very logical. If one priest can be given honorarium why shouldn`t the other be paid also. All temple, mandir , masjid, gurudwara and churches be made govt. property, All the earnings be accounted for like vaishno Devi and other places and the money be spent on maintenance of the religious places and honorarium to the people working or performing puja. This way the govt. can keep an eye on the illegal and criminal activities in those places especially with regard to criminals making religious places a safe heaven after commiting crimes which is very often.

mamata government must delivery justice on priciple of equality. Honorarium to one religion priests and denying to other is not secularism. Mamata can not misuse public money to meet her personal political aspiration. its corruption and loot of public money for personal gains....so criminal case should be registered against mamata and her government....
