'Police probes Indrani Mukerjea's previous loss-making venture'

With the police probing financial angle in the murder of Sheena Bora, who is daughter of ex-media honcho Peter Mukerjea's wife Indrani, the investigators are trying to ascertain the reason behind selling loss-making ventures to the two Kolkata-based businessmen.

Kolkata: With the police probing financial angle in the murder of Sheena Bora, who is daughter of ex-media honcho Peter Mukerjea's wife Indrani, the investigators are trying to ascertain the reason behind selling loss-making ventures to the two Kolkata-based businessmen.

According to a report in The Times of India, the office at 26 CR Avenue in Kolkata is the registered address of companies of two directors who took over the company Indrani and Peter Mukerjea started in 2007.

Indrani Mukerjea News Pvt Ltd had showed losses since its start in 2007. Despite that, a Mumbai lawyer Manjula Rao was taken in as a director in the initial years.

Later, Kolkata-based businessmen Niket Khaitan and Pawan Kumar Vaid were also inducted in the board of directors.

Khaitan and Vaid were also made part of Indrani's other companies - Saraswathi Media, Indrani Incon, Gan ga Executive Search Pvt Ltd and Yamuna Recruitment Services, the report stated.

While the office is situated close to Indrani's first husband Sanjeev Khanna's office at 46 CR Avenue, it is reported that one of the directors was also close to Khanna.

The police are now investigating as to why would the two businessmen would buy loss making ventures, the report stated.
