Polling personnel to get remuneration directly at bank account
Remuneration of those appointed as polling personnel at Birbhum district in the forthcoming state Assembly elections would be credited directly to their bank accounts.
Suri: Remuneration of those
appointed as polling personnel at Birbhum district in the
forthcoming state Assembly elections would be credited
directly to their bank accounts, officials said on Sunday.
For those government and other employees, eligible to
be appointed polling personnel, who are appointed through
random selection, their fees would be credited to their
personal bank accounts.
Money would be transferred only after the first day of
training they would attend.
"We expect this system to do well. We have experienced
much problem during the earlier election to disburse money.
Handling of huge amount cash needs a number of men. It will
not only save manpower but reduce the discomfort of the
polling personnel," district magistrate Saumitra Mohan said.
Since there are no specific guidelines of the Election
Commission on the disbursement of remuneration, this way has
been devised as an experiment, the DM said.
Mohan was recently awarded by the EC for his
innovative ideas to conduct elections.
