Bolpur: Rebel Trinamool Congress MP Somen Mitra on Sunday met a group of Congress leaders and workers here and hinted at his return back to the Congress party.
During his meeting, Mitra assured the Congress workers that he would come again and hear the problems and grudge of the Congress workers and fight together against unjust.
Mitra said, "I am still an MP of Trinamool Congress though I have already decided to leave but it will be effective only when I would leave as TMC-MP."
"Then I`ll finally declare whether I will return back to Congress. But you were with me in 1977 when the condition of Congress was more wretched.
"In those days, the grass-root workers fought for Congress, in future those common workers will save Congress. I believe that those who are still with Congress in this bad-time despite all odds should organise themselves all and get ready to fight against wrongdoers," he said.
"After leaving TMC and membership of Parliament I will announce formally to which party I will join. And if I join Congress I will come to the meeting of Congress workers, hear their problems and grudge and try to find out some remedies," the rebel TMC MP said.
"Today I have come to meet you as an old colleague. I think that the earth is round and I hope that in future I will be with you on the same platform and fight against unfair," he said in his 20-minute speech.
Both Mitra and Birbhum district Congress leaders described the meet an informal.
