Kolkata: The recovery of illegal arms in
West Bengal will continue with the police told to do so
irrespective of party colour, West Bengal Chief Minister
Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday.
"Keeping illegal arms is an illegal act. The recovery
of illegal weapons will continue. The police have been told
not to bother about party colour while making the recoveries,"
Banerjee told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
The government will reopen the cases relating to the
killings at Sainbari in Burdwan district in early 1970s as
also the Cossipore killings in 1972, she said.
"The law will take its own course," Banerjee said.
The state government has also sought a detailed report
from the Law and Judicial department about the 25 judicial
commissions ordered by the previous Left Front government,
Banerjee said.
On the release of political prisoners, she said that
the suggestion of the law ministry was being sought.
