Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, named in the CBI chargesheet in the multi-crore Saradha scam, claimed in court on Monday that investigation into the case was being influenced and threatened suicide.

New Delhi: Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, named in the CBI chargesheet in the multi-crore Saradha scam, claimed in court on Monday that investigation into the case was being influenced and threatened suicide.

Claiming that the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation was biased, Ghosh said, "Influential people whose names have come up are not being arrested. If they are not arrested within 72 hours I'll commit suicide."

The suspended Rajya Sabha MP had been named by the CBI in its first chargesheet in the multi-crore scam alongwith Saradha chief Sudipta Sen and close aide Debjani Mukherjee.

Five companies — Saradha Tours & Travels, Saradha Gardens, Saradha Realty, Saradha Constructions and Strategic Media (a company owned by Kunal Ghosh) — were also named in the chargesheet.

The chargesheet that named Ghosh was filed under Sections 120B, 409 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) and also under Sections four and six of Prize, Chit and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act 1978.
